Rest

Rest
That word alone makes me sigh!

Rest
There is something so calming, quieting, just in saying the word.

Rest for the body, mind, soul and spirit.

Rest for the body - it's called vacation!

On the 7th day, He rested. We need rest. Our bodies need rest. If He rested as our example, then, we, too, need to rest. We can't continue to burn the candle at both ends and expect to function properly. We were not made to work 24/7 and exist on very little sleep. Our bodies need to rest, to be restored and rejuvenated in order to give optimum performance. Many illnesses could be avoided if we only gave our bodies proper rest. It's pretty sad when we realize that taking time to rest often requires more discipline than working!

Rest for the mind - it's called silence!

There is something about silence that is very soothing for our minds. Every day we are bombarded with so much noise - everywhere we turn. Some noise is even self-inflicted - radio, TV, headphones, etc. We can't think straight when we are constantly being assaulted by noise! We need to think, we need to process all we take in, all we dwell on. We need to do the housekeeping of our mind. We need to shut all the noise off and listen - listen to hear His voice! Listen and revel in - the quiet!

Rest for the soul - it's called time alone!

Take time to be alone. Take time to be by yourself and learn to know yourself. Time alone can invigorate and renew us. Sit by yourself, shut out all the noise, sit back and take a deep sigh! That will soothe your spirit and rest your soul! Separate yourself from people deliberately - for a time. Take a break from the conversation and the stimulation. Just be alone!

Rest for the spirit - it's called trusting and believing His Word.

Our spirits need to rest in His truth and in His Word. When life's circumstances produce chaos all around us, trusting and believing in His Word brings peace and rest to our spirits. There is a rest for those who believe and trust that He has all in His hands (Hebrews 4:9).

During this traditional time of vacation - summer - take a rest for your body, mind, soul and spirit. Better yet, make it habit to do it regularly!!
